Stained glass at Chartres

Stained-glass, invented in the Middle Ages, chose Chartres as its capital. The cathedral, renowned for its “Chartres blue” is a perfect example but the numerous churches that boast ancient and contemporary stained-glass windows, the International Stained-Glass Centre (display and research), the skilled, passionate and innovative local master glass specialists, and the Stained–Glass gallery, the sector’s equivalent of an antique specialist, also provide a diverse and lively vision of this art.
